Ex. West Wales Buggies group events Organiser, John, originally born & bred in South Birmingham, relocated to the heart of the Teifi valley in Carmarthenshire in the summer of 2006 by choice, to be nearer the countryside & coast of South West Wales.

His main career started with an apprenticeship as a Computer Aided Design draughtsman (hence his nickname "JC - JonnyCAD") in Birmingham for many years before progressing to his current national role in IT for the last 15 years. His main practical hobbies amongst others are, off road motorsport, sailing, cycling, DIY and general outdoor adventures. Also qualified as an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) for over several years, his current daily role involves in the management of corporate networking, mobile data communications and security, John also remains a competent sailor, qualified day skipper and draughtsman, with a varied practical skillset and hands on approach.

Having restored various boats from the ground up over the past years, John has also fully restored many motor vehicles, with a keen bias towards classic rallying Fords, such as the Mk1 & Mk2 Escort, and later on in life, Land Rovers. His love of general car driving and past on & off road track days over the years (for which he does thousands of miles a month for business and pleasure) has led him to move forward in the general direction of 4x4 green laning, since relocating to the open countryside of south west wales.

In his spare time, John is an active green laner / guide, aswell as being the GLASS Area Representative for the welsh counties of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Since the arrival of  first son Jamie is late 2010, he has passed over his old volunteer role of Team Controller, for 4x4 Response Wales, to local WWL member and responder, Fred Labrosse. From summer 2010, John has added another feather to his cap taking on the role of Treadlightly Ambassador for West Wales which is a role that has developed nicely.

He also sits on the Ceredigion Rights of Way Local Access Forum (LAF) for 2011-2013 representing motorised vehicle user groups in the county. Family and developing work commitments are taking John further east in the next year or so, relocating towards the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. This could mean a larger coverage area for WWL and TL, and his existing enthusiasm and comittment to the green laning community is set to continue. John is now also the editor of GLASS Magazine and any content or enquiries can be submitted via editor@glass-uk.org

John currently drives a Discovery 1 300tdi SE "Rhiannon", which he regularly uses for his club green laning & 4x4 activities in Wales. With several years of outdoor activities, sailing, and green laning under his belt, John is also a trained emergency 4x4 first responder and Off Road Driver to C&G NPTC Level 2.
